The Different Types of Corrugated Boxes
Corrugated boxes come in a variety of types, each designed for specific applications. Single wall boxes are a popular choice for light-to-medium-weight items. Double wall boxes offer increased strength and protection, ideal for heavier items or products that require extra cushioning. Die-cut boxes provide a snug fit for products, reducing the need for additional packing materials. We also offer custom corrugated boxes, allowing you to tailor the size, shape, and design to perfectly suit your product. We’re committed to providing the highest quality corrugated boxes to meet your packaging needs.
How Corrugated Boxes are Made
The process of making corrugated boxes involves several steps. It starts with raw materials – kraft paper is commonly used for its strength and durability. The paper is then passed through a corrugating machine, where it’s heated and pressed into wave-like shapes known as flutes. This corrugated layer is sandwiched between two flat liner boards, creating a strong, lightweight material. The corrugated sheets are cut and folded into box shapes, ready for use. At SCHC, we utilize advanced manufacturing techniques to produce high-quality corrugated boxes that offer excellent protection and versatility.

FAQS
Corrugated packaging refers to a type of material used for packaging that is made up of three layers of paper – an inside liner, an outside liner, and a ruffled or corrugated inner layer known as the fluting. This construction creates a strong, durable, and lightweight material that offers superior protection for products during shipping and handling.
While often used interchangeably, cardboard and corrugated are not the same. Cardboard typically refers to a heavy-duty paper stock that’s thicker than regular paper. It’s commonly used for products like cereal boxes or greeting cards. Corrugated, on the other hand, is made of three layers of paper that include a sheet of wavy “fluted” paper in between two flat sheets. The fluted layer gives corrugated boxes their characteristic rigidity and strength, making them an excellent choice for shipping and packaging applications.
Non-corrugated packaging refers to any packaging solution that doesn’t utilize the fluted, three-layer design of corrugated materials. Examples include solid cardboard boxes, plastic containers, bags, and wrappers. While non-corrugated packaging can be useful for certain applications, it generally doesn’t offer the same level of strength and protection as corrugated packaging.
Corrugated cardboard is used for packaging due to its strength, durability, and versatility. The fluted middle layer provides excellent cushioning for products, helping to protect them from damage during transit. In addition, corrugated cardboard is lightweight, recyclable, and cost-effective, making it a popular choice across many industries. It can also be easily customized in terms of size, shape, and print, allowing businesses to tailor their packaging to their specific needs.
